The Honest Truth: Why Most Masterminds Don’t Work Anymore
Today’s post is part story, part strategy, and one of the most honest conversations I’ve shared about what’s really working in business right now.
Because here’s the truth:
The mastermind model, as we know it, is broken.
After years of investing in high-level masterminds, sitting in beautiful rooms, and learning from brilliant coaches, I realized something big — most masterminds are built to teach, not to do.
They deliver frameworks, videos, and motivation… but they don’t deliver implementation.
And if you’ve ever joined a mastermind, you know exactly what I mean.
You walk away inspired, yes — but also overwhelmed. You have 45 new ideas, 12 new notebooks, and absolutely no clue where to start.
That was me — over and over again — until I finally decided to build something different.

Something that helps women scale smarter, not harder.
Something that combines strategy, systems, and soul — so that success doesn’t come at the expense of your peace.
That’s how The Collective Co-Op was born.
And today, I’m walking you through why I created it, how it’s structured, and — most importantly — how you can borrow the same framework to create real results in your own business (even if you never join us).
When Success Started to Feel Heavy
A few years ago, I hit a wall.
On paper, everything looked great — consistent launches, steady growth, a thriving community.
But behind the scenes? I was tired.
Like, “I can’t do another launch without crying into my planner” tired.
I joined every high-level mastermind I could, hoping proximity to success would fix everything. I thought if I could just be around the “right” people, I’d finally crack the code to balance, profit, and peace.
But here’s what really happened:
Each new mastermind gave me more information — and less clarity.
I didn’t need another 90-minute training or 50-slide deck.
I needed someone to say:
“Hey Holly, this idea is worth your energy. That one can wait.”
I needed rhythm.
Seasons of growth.
Seasons of rest.
Seasons where I could walk my girls to the bus stop, plan a retreat, and still feel like my business was moving forward.
That model didn’t exist anywhere.
So… I built it.
And that’s how The Collective Co-Op became more than a program — it became a movement.
Why the Mastermind Model Is Broken
Let’s talk about the industry for a second.
Traditional masterminds promise transformation. But most are designed around information, not implementation.
They’re great at inspiration — but terrible at integration.
You join a mastermind, you get access to trainings and slides, and for a few weeks you feel unstoppable. But once the calls end and your calendar fills again, you realize something’s missing:
support.
In this new season of entrepreneurship — where time, attention, and energy are limited — access alone isn’t enough.
You don’t need another folder of templates.
You don’t need another 50-hour curriculum.
You need a system — and a team — that helps you execute what you already know.
That’s what The Collective Co-Op was built to solve.
It’s a 9-month, done-with-you mentorship that gives women expert strategy, automation tools, and accountability — all within a sustainable rhythm that honors both your business and your life.
Because proximity doesn’t create results.
Structure does.
The Co-Op Structure — Where Strategy Meets Rhythm
When I first designed the Co-Op, I asked one question:
“What if a mastermind was built like a business system — not a classroom?”
Inside the Co-Op, every member gets access to:
-
A CFO to track the numbers and ensure profitability.
-
A CMO to help you refine your marketing and audience growth.
-
A Strategist (hi, that’s me 👋) to help you plan, prioritize, and pivot.
-
Plus, our suite of AI tools and frameworks that make implementation faster and easier.
But the real magic?
It’s not the tools.
It’s the rhythm.
We follow something called the S.H.I.F.T. Framework — the heartbeat of the Co-Op and the reason it works so well for busy, multi-passionate women.
Introducing a new private podcast series that’s just for you if you’re sick of all the Instagram BS! (or insert social channel of your choice). You can build a business without being a slave to the social engine. Grab the free series.
The S.H.I.F.T. Framework — A System for Sustainable Success
S — See Them
From day one, every member is seen.
We send their favorite flowers.
We host a zero-agenda welcome call.
We learn their goals, challenges, and rhythms before they ever join a group session.
Because onboarding isn’t about forms — it’s about connection.
When women feel seen and supported, they implement faster and take bolder action.
H — Hold Space
Our Office Hours aren’t random or chaotic. They follow a consistent rhythm:
-
Week 1: Planning + Scorecard Review
-
Week 2: Systems + Funnels
-
Week 3: Client Attraction
-
Week 4: Finances
That structure builds safety and momentum.
Introverts can submit reflections in writing.
Extroverts can brainstorm live in breakout rooms.
Analytical thinkers get clarity from tracking progress.
Creatives thrive through visuals and storytelling.
No matter your personality, there’s a way to plug in and shine.
I — Integrate Tools (AI + Human Touch)
This is where the Co-Op gets truly innovative.
We use AI and human support together — not as replacements, but as partners.
Over the past year, we built a custom AI Squad of GPTs trained on our frameworks:
-
Stella the Strategist helps map 90-day business plans.
-
Clara the Content Coach drafts blogs, reels, and emails.
-
Ava the Audience Aligner identifies where your clients are hiding.
-
Penny the Pitch Pro helps you refine your offers and partnerships.
AI handles about 60% of the heavy lifting — like writing, summarizing, and data tracking — while our team personalizes everything else.
For example:
A member uses Stella to draft her quarterly plan in minutes.
Then, she brings it to our live strategy session where we tweak, personalize, and refine.
AI makes it faster.
Our team makes it smarter.
Together, it makes it doable.
F — Foster Growth
Growth isn’t a one-time milestone — it’s a continuous feedback loop.
We invite our members to teach, collaborate, and mentor inside the community.
Graduates become leaders. Members become mentors.
It’s not just a program — it’s a pipeline for leadership and legacy.
T — Track Progress
Every single week, members complete a scorecard to track their numbers, focus, and one win.
That “one win” question might sound simple, but it changes everything.
It trains your brain to look for momentum — not just gaps.
And when our members share wins, we celebrate.
Handwritten notes. Shoutouts. Recognition.
Because success deserves to be seen.
What Makes The Collective Co-Op Different
The Co-Op isn’t built on hustle. It’s built on rhythm.
It’s for the woman who’s tired of the all-or-nothing business model.
Who wants to grow — but also rest.
Who wants to scale — without sacrificing her sanity.
This isn’t a sprint.
It’s a cycle of clarity, strategy, and support — repeated, refined, and rooted in reality.
Even if you never join, you can apply the same principles right now:
- Personalize your client onboarding.
- Create structure in your delivery process.
- Combine AI automation with human touch.
- Celebrate progress weekly.
When you do that, you don’t just grow a business — you build belonging.
That’s what keeps people coming back.

How to Apply the S.H.I.F.T. Framework to Your Own Business
Let’s break this into tangible next steps you can take today.
Step 1: Audit Your Onboarding
Ask yourself:
-
How do new clients feel when they join?
-
Do they feel seen, guided, and supported?
If not, add a human touch — a handwritten note, a short welcome video, a personal check-in.
Step 2: Create a Consistent Support Rhythm
Set themed weeks or recurring cycles for your clients, just like we do in the Co-Op.
That predictability makes people feel safe and keeps your delivery streamlined.
Step 3: Integrate Smart Tech + Human Support
Use AI for what it does best: speed and structure.
But always add your human lens.
Automation should make you more personal, not less.
Step 4: Build a Feedback Loop
Don’t wait for quarterly surveys.
Check in weekly or monthly.
Ask, “What’s working? What’s not?” and adapt quickly.
Step 5: Track Wins
Momentum compounds.
Celebrate small wins consistently — for yourself and your clients.
If you only take one thing from this post, let it be this:
Sustainable businesses are built on rhythm, not rush.
Why Rhythm Beats Hustle Every Time
Here’s what I’ve learned after coaching hundreds of women:
Consistency doesn’t come from pressure.
It comes from peace.
When you have a rhythm — of planning, reflecting, resting, and celebrating — you don’t burn out.
You create from overflow, not obligation.
The women inside the Co-Op don’t work harder.
They work aligned.
They’re walking their kids to the bus stop, hosting retreats, and building multi-six-figure businesses — without sacrificing their values.
Because structure creates freedom.
The Big Picture — Business Can Be Both
Five years and nine retreats later, I can confidently say this:
Business can be both.
Strategic and soulful.
Automated and human.
Profitable and peaceful.
When you build with rhythm, you build something that lasts.
That’s the essence of The Collective Co-Op.
It’s not about more information.
It’s about integration, implementation, and alignment.
Because success without sustainability isn’t success at all.
