3 Ways to Become More Visible When You Feel like No One is Listening

The best thing about these blog posts is they are usually written in real time and it gives me a platform to answer real questions (as in this is what I hear inside our mastermind and community).

I have heard a lot lately, "I feel like no one is listening." Insert, I share all the things, but crickets.

OR, "I have such a small email list, is it really going to matter if I sent out that email every week?"

Here’s a little secret: we just hit the 2,000 mark on our email list. During the first two years of business and for almost 1.5 years of it, I only had about 500 people on it. And in January of 2020, I had zero.

Get it out of your head that you need a large email list to make money

So my first point today is to get it out of your head that you need a large email list to make money and better yet and impact.

Think of it this way. I have been on a big Ed Mylett kick lately and have been reading his new book, The Power of One More.

What would it look like to change one person’s life?

To help one person?

To change one person’s schedule? And allow them to spend time more time with their family?

To have your email impact ONE person?

When I first started in business my goal was to have 3 1:1 clients. I charged $97 a month and if I made $300/month over 3 months, I could pay to have someone edit the podcast audio. I achieved this one person at a time.

Ditch the fact that you need large numbers to see success.

Three Ways To Become More Visible

These are three things you can do right now to become more visible, even if you have a super small email list or following:

  1. Ditch the mindset that you need a larger following to be successful. Embrace the power of one more. We have spent the last few weeks talking about simple strategy, the simplest strategy is to make a list of people that you can help. And then engage with them. I don’t mean send them slimy messages or DMs, I mean get to know them. Connect with them. Then when the time is right, simply ask. "Hey, Sally, I know we have chatted a lot about {insert something you know a lot about here”}. I have a few ways this summer that I might be able to help you even more. Would you be open to chatting about it?"

The secret here? You are asking permission to share more. And because you have taken so much time to share value and helpful tips prior, it is honestly just like having a chat about your favorite pair of jeans. "Hey Sally, I love the Nordstorm summer sale. (This is an example of course). Would you be open to learning more about my favorite jeans they have there?"

    See how easy this is?

Make a list. Dive in. You don’t need to create anything new. You just have to take action.

  2. Make yourself more visible on platforms that your audience is hanging out on, but on a more personal level. As a reminder, only 1% of your viewers actually see your social posts. Do you enjoy podcasts? I love this platform because people can hear your voice and can relate to you so much faster. Can you be a guest inside a community? Or mastermind call? Again, people can hear you and relate to you on a personal level.

  3.  Create your own momentum. This is my favorite tip. There are a few ways you can do this.
    1. Dig into your current email list and really ask for what they want. Create offers and solutions based on their answers. Use their words as copy in your posts and website. Remember that 80/20 principle we teach in CEO Week (which p.s. If you haven’t read this yet, find it here. 20% of your current clients represent 80% of your income. So how can you better serve them? And how can they help you? Referrals, affiliates, partnerships. Those are all ways to grow with your current following.
    2. Collaboration. Can you tap into other’s audiences that have similar goals as you? Schedule an IG live a week.

The Key to Becoming More Visible

The key with these tips is you have to be consistent. If you are going to schedule an IG live collaboration as an example, one time isn’t going to cut it. You have to do it over and over and over again to create that momentum.

So often I hear, "well I spoke on that podcast, but nothing happened." Speak on 10.

Or, "I sent an email but no one responded." Send another one. And another.

You get my point, but you have to be consistent when no one is watching and no one is paying attention.

Believe in yourself and then get out there. Pick the platform you like best to share on, create a little challenge for yourself and do it. If you love teaching, make a challenge to pitch yourself to five podcasts each week. If you love social media, set up one Instagram live each week. Can you have content to have them share your freebie? Or course? Or podcast?

Get creative!

I know in the world of visibility, it can often feel like no one is watching, but I promise the power of one more is going to truly help you scale in a way that feels good.

What one person can you help today?
