What Does Consistency Really Mean?Nov 17, 2021
Let's dig deeper into something I preach almost every week.
When I get asked how I grew and scaled so fast, my answer is a combination of a few things but two of them are strategy and consistency. As in you have to have a super clear picture of where you are going AND you need to be ridiculously consistent. When I say the word consistent, people either get super excited like YES, I can do that OR roll their eyes.
I used to be the one that rolled my eyes. Because in my head I would think, I am already working SO much, how can I be MORE consistent?
What does consistency REALLY mean?
For those of you that are new here, I started my entrepreneurial career in network marketing, and a client recently brought up that the word “consistent” didn’t resonate with her. Doing things like:
- Sending 100 invites
- Writing 10 posts a week
- Cold calling (an old school term)
That is NOT consistency. Five years ago when someone told me to be more consistent I interpreted that as sending more cold invites and that didn’t feel great. It also was not aligned to anything I was passionate about which meant: burnout, frustration, and anxiety. Maybe you can relate?
When I say consistency now, I think of it as figuring out the actions that make sense in your business to move the needle forward. In the corporate world, we call it the critical path.
How can you remove the noise and find the most straight-line to your end goal?
Consistency Breeds Results
The second part of the consistency equation is making sure that your consistency is breeding results. Part of the Crush the Rush method is measuring results to make sure you are working on the right things and adjusting. If you can log your actions (p.s the planner is great for this and actually walks you through it each week), you can see what is working and what is not. This makes your business decisions and next steps based on facts, not feelings.

Consistency is the secret sauce. Here are a few things I have done consistently to attract the right clients for the last year and a half:
- Showed up every morning on IG M-F with a poll (I have taught my audience to engage with me)
- Posted 5 pins on Pinterest weekly
- Released 2 podcasts a week
- Write 1 blog a week (using SEO and analytics on the backend)
- Spend time every week developing a long term strategy (2 hours on Saturday morning)
- Spend time every week making content my pillar of service
Note this is not sending 100 invites, cold DMs, or even selling every week. I designed a business model where I can be creative and still serve on a consistent basis on a part-time schedule.
According to Atomic Habits (one of my favorite books) - What separates the elite performers from everyone else? Not perfection, but consistency. This is why the most important thing is not to prevent mistakes altogether, but to avoid making a mistake twice in a row.
Consistency in Action
