How to Create your Business Strategy as a Beginner: Part One

Welcome to part one of a two-part series blog series giving you the quick and dirty on how to create your business strategy. As in 15 minutes or less, I am going to teach you Business Strategy 101 so you can take action and see results on your schedule without burning out. You ready?
Strategy is simply having a plan that is in alignment with your big-picture goals. It is that simple. So many times people hear the word strategy and freak out. But let’s be honest, if you don’t have one, how do you know what to work on in your business? It is like running your business with a blindfold on and being an entrepreneur is hard enough. So let's make it easier.
So in this blog post, I am going to give you some homework by giving you some questions to ask yourself (and actually write out), and then in Part 2, we are going to talk about how to follow through and create and stay accountable with your strategy. Sit down and reflect on these questions:
- What is your core mission and vision? The reason why you started?
- What are your core values? (ex. You want weekends off, to help XYZ etc.)
- What are your short and long-term objectives? (Quarterly, Monthly, etc.)
- How do you measure success?

You want to think of your strategy as your guiding light. Your purpose. So when you have those really messy, crazy days you can look at this and know exactly what to focus on, even if it is just for 30 minutes a day.
The responsibilities placed upon us are unlikely to diminish anytime soon. And in fact, if you are like our family it is actually going to get busier. Back to school back to the office. There is never a better time to sit down and actually answer these strategic questions. Your business and schedule will thank you.
